My Very First Blog Entry

Greetings! Well, I've finally decided to test my compatability with the 21st century paradigm: I now own an iPod (never used), cell phone (used three times) and, although it seems a bit egomaniacal, my very own eponymous website (you try thinking of a clever, not-yet-taken url that doesn't involve some too cute pun on "paige" and "page"). Which almost certainly contains at least one truly egregious typo, since I'm hoping it will help me find writing and editing gigs. Ah, well, perfection is for people with nothing better to do.

Of course, like any author who [mistakenly] believes she's worth her weight in ones and zeros, I've also committed to this whole blogging thing. I even read an article in the magazine Business 2.0 about how you can earn tens of thousands of dollars a month simply by spending the day sorting through the gray goo of information fuzzing across our wifi-saturated world, then posting only the most refined and rarified tidbits perfect for your target market alongside illuminating commentary that they wouldn't be able to find anywhere else. The article also recommends posting four to six times a day, preferably before lunch, when your fans take a breather to surf their favorite sites.

There's only one thing that could get me surfing, searching, sorting and commenting intelligibly that often and that early on a daily basis.




And it's illegal in the United States. I suppose FARC has to buy that top-of-the-line military equipment somehow, which just wouldn't happen if Colombia nationalized and regulated the industry as Bolivian President Evo Morales has suggested doing.

Thus, since manic blogging, at least for profit, is not in the cards (this week, anyway) I've decided to call this a Slog - like a blog, but slow. Which means that you can subscribe to my Slog and not be pestered with spam four to six times a day, or  just drop by twice a month without missing a thing, except perhaps those little google ads that accompany real blogs.
